Church Leaders conference in Kathmandu, 7 October 2007

National Council of Churches of Nepal (NCCN) and Valley Christian Council (VCC) jointly organized a one-day conference of Church leaders in Kathmandu on 7 October 2007. nference was the "Role of Christian community in new Nepal Building". NCCN General Secretary Dr. K.B. Rokaya, Co-executive of Global Ministries USA Rogers Witte Ann and Southern Asia director of Global Ministries USA Rev. Dr. James Vijayakumar worked as resource persons.  

Addressing the conference NCCN General Secretary Dr. K.B. Rokaya shared about the objectives, present activities, achievements and future strategies of NCCN.

Rogers Witte Ann spoke from LUKE 4: 16-19. She said that the church should be very much involved in the development and social transformation activities. She shared her experience about how the Churches in Argentina, Germany and many other parts of the world worked among the people during the period of economic depression in those countries.

Rev. Dr. James Vijayakumar spoke about the importance of unity among the Church. He said that he is happy to see the Churches in Nepal being united under the leadership of NCCN.

On the same programme, VCC, on behalf of the Christians in Kathmandu, honored Dr. K.B. Rokaya for getting appointed as the honorable member of national human rights commission.

 

The programme was chaired by NCCN president Mr. Simon Gurung.
